MO ISO and Iver Academy are proud and honoured to provide the opportunity for you to develop and grow within the amazing world of Afro-Textured hair.

For decades Afro hair has been undervalued and misrepresented even though it has the ability to shape shift in the most magnificent ways. Lack of understanding has left many creatives feeling unseen in large spaces. This course will provide key skills and styling options that will promote inclusion and diversity for all; helping to create positive change within the Hair & Makeup industry.

We offer a 5 day in-depth intensive course is for Hair & Makeup artists new to the industry and already established artists looking to elevate their skills and styling techniques with Natural Afro-Textured hair.

Our 3 day intensive course will enhance your skill set with minimal disruption to your busy schedule.

 

As an artist working across multiple areas of Film, TV, Music, Theatre or Beauty; this course will provide you with the skill set to embrace and celebrate the diversity of Afro-Textured hair. You will feel empowered and gain a level of confidence both in skill set and 'cultural appropriate conversation'.

 

 

This Course Covers:

  • The science of Afro-Textured hair

  • The importance of the consultation 

  • Product & tool knowledge

  • How to properly handle Afro-Textured hair with protection and care for each strand

  • Core styling techniques such as braiding, twisting, cornrows, heatless stretching methods, smoothing and blow drying 

  • Identifying curl patterns and textures

  • How to define and manipulate curls

  • How to create beautiful styles and shapes with Afro-Textured hair

  • Adding extensions

  • Confidence with all textures and curls

  • Cultural bias terms, language and behaviours

Tools, Kit & Requirements

A MO ISO gift bag is provided with our course, which will include your basic essentials for the course. In addition to this you will be required to bring your own professional hair dryer with Afro pic and diffuser. All styling products needed to complete the course will be provided for you.

This course is eligible for a screen skills bursary.

Based in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, Pinewood Studios are found just 20 miles from Soho and 8 miles from Heathrow, and are within easy reach of London and its surrounding boroughs connected by Pinewood Studios complementary shuttle bus service. Students can enjoy easy access to Pinewood Studios, whether they are travelling there by car, train or bus.

The studios are also close to the M4, M25 and M40, providing direct access to major UK cities and a multitude of UK locations. There is parking on site for over 5000 cars.
